AGNEEPATH RECRUITMENT 2022: INDIAN ARMY’S AGNEEPATH RECRUITMENT SCHEME, AGE LIMIT, HOW TO JOIN EXPLAINED
Agneepath Scheme | Best Defence Coaching in Lucknow – Recruitment scheme was launched by the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. In a step that promises radical changes in recruitment for the Indian Armed Forces, Agneepath scheme would add 46,000 soldiers to Indian Army, Indian Navy and India Air Force. The scheme was announced in a media briefing shortly after the cabinet committee approved the same.”The Agneepath recruitment scheme is a transformative initiative that will provide a youthful profile to the armed forces,” Singh said. The step has been accepted after lengthy discussions with the armed forces and promises a paradigm shift. But what is the scheme?
Agneepath Simply explained, Agneepath or Agneepath is a recruitment scheme for the Indian youth who wish to join the Armed Forces. The entry would be done for a period of 4 years initially. During these 4 years, the recruits would be trained by the armed forces in the skills required. Recruits hired under the scheme would be called Agniveers. A total of 46000 soldiers would be recruited every year. Of these, about 25% would be retained for an additional tenure of 15 years for permanent commission. The others would be allowed to leave and given a Seva Nidhi – a corpus of a one-time amount of Rs. 11.71 lakh plus interest. This amount would be tax-free and can be used by the individual to further their dreams.
The individuals, selected for enrolment in the Armed Forces as regular cadre, would be required to serve for a further engagement period of minimum of 15 years and would be governed by the existing terms and conditions of service of Junior Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks in Indian Army and their equivalent in Indian Navy and Indian Air Force and that of Non-Combatant enrolled in the Indian Air Force, as amended from time to time.
The armed forces would soon conduct Recruitment rallies at various campuses and special rallys. Enrollment would be done through an online centralised system for all three services. Specialized rallies and campus interviews at recognized technical institutes such as Industrial Training Institutes and National Skills Qualifications Framework, would be conducted for the same.
Enrolment will be based on an ‘All India All Class’ basis and the eligible age will be in the range from 17.5 to 21 years.
The educational qualification for Agniveers will remain in vogue for enrollment in various categories. Ex. for entry into General Duty (GD) soldier, the educational qualification is Class 10. The table is given below.
Other Requirements: Recruits would have to meet the medical eligibility conditions laid down for enrolment in the armed forces as applicable to respective categories/trades.
* As per current Indian Army Recruitment rules, subject to changes. Educational Requirements may vary for Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
Agniveers will be given an attractive customized monthly package along with Risk and Hardship allowances as applicable in the three services. On completion of the engagement period of four years, Agniveers will be paid one time ‘Seva Nidhi’ package which shall comprise their contribution including accrued interest thereon and matching contribution from the Government equal to the accumulated amount of their contribution including interest as indicated below:
The ‘Seva Nidhi’ will be exempt from Income Tax.
There shall be no entitlement to gratuity and pensionary benefits.
Agniveers will be provided a non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of Rs 48 lakhs for their engagement period in the Indian Armed Forces.
The scheme will lead to much more youthful and technically adept war fighting force by ensuring a fine balance between youthful and experienced personnel in the Armed Forces.
With Agniveers churning out every four years, the Indian forces are set to get much younger and ‘technologically savvy’. The aim is to recruit ‘young talent from the society who are more in tune with contemporary technological trends and plough back skilled, disciplined and motivated manpower into the society.’ The Union Minister said, “It would help to train them for new technologies and also improve their health levels. This scheme will increase employment opportunities with new skills in different sectors.”
